Dear friend, there is no one like you . . . so stop trying to walk the same path as everyone else! Every person has a unique assignment, a unique calling. You have to make a decision to pursue the perfect will for your life.
It is absolutely true that sometimes we’ll go through potentially devastating, debilitating situations. However, regardless of divorce, loss, or emotional struggles, your perfect purpose remains real and tangible. Today, let me encourage you to step out of the muck and the confusion; I want you to pivot toward the “you” that you were created to be!
Pursue
First, let’s dispel some rumors. Sometimes people think that since God wants something to happen, it will automatically come to pass, but that’s not true. It’s contingent. It is not enough to say, “Whatever will be, will be.” That’s not how it works. The reality might be annoying, but the reality is that only with effort and time will you see God’s will for your life come to pass.
You have to spend every day moving in the direction that God wants your life to go. You will never have another today. You’ll be happier and receive a
much greater blessing once you find your purpose and start heading in that direction. But we have to be intentional. We have to pursue it. Understanding your calling also means running toward it.
I challenge you to think of your life as an offering to something greater than yourself. Become comfortable with finding ways to serve, as this can be an important tool in discovering what you’re meant to do. Ask these questions daily: Who do you want me to run into today? Who do you want me to talk to? Who can I be a blessing to? How can my light show up in dark places?
Let me tell you about Brother John and Sister Deborah Carr who lead the Children’s Ministry at WCCI. When I met them, they were going into communities, picking up children to minister to them, and meeting their various needs. I was just so enamored with their commitment and passion. They really made a difference, not only in the children’s lives, but also in whole families’ lives. There’s something about the anointing that becomes evident when you begin to step into the will of God. The talents begin to flourish.
Pivot
A lot of people listen to motivational podcasts or Google “change quotes,” but when it comes down to it, you must act. Don’t hesitate! If you have identified your purpose, quickly dive into it! I’m telling you, there’s something about quickly obeying, quickly responding, immediately shifting. Sometimes it’s just a pivot. In basketball, when they pivot, it’s not always a big move, but it’s very strategic. In many instances in our life, we just need to make a pivot and get off what wasn’t working in the first place.
During the pandemic in March 2020, we didn’t know what was going on. Schools were shutting down; events were shutting down; everything was closing. Everybody was trying to figure out what all this was about. We were on the cusp of our annual women’s conference, and the Lord just said, “Pivot.” He helped us go from an in-person conference that we’d been planning for over a year to a completely virtual conference in less than two weeks.
I told our team, “We’re going to pivot. We’re not going to make this a big thing. Let’s just pivot.” And that’s what we’ve got to do in all areas of our life that call for it. Don’t be afraid to ask, “What’s next? How do I need to do this business now? How do I need to deal with this child now? How am I going to get to this place? What do I do concerning this relationship?”
We’re always trying to make things like they were “before.” No, it’s not coming back. That relationship is not coming back, your old job is not coming back, that old situation is not coming back. You’ve got to make that pivot and move forward.
Conclusion
“What is my purpose in life?” is a question many women ask themselves. Let me answer it! Your insides, outsides, and innermost being were created with delicate hands. You were made to be mysteriously complex. Dear sister, you need to know that you are on a path that is making a difference, a path that’s changing lives. Pivot, pursue, and watch your purpose begin to unfold!
