Mystery of the Kingdom of God

During Jesus’ earthly ministry, He preached with fervency about the kingdom of God (God’s way of doing and being right). He taught people to change their thinking because the kingdom of God is at hand.

  1. As we go about our daily lives, we must seek those things that are vital to our overall well-being (Philippians 1:9-10, AMP ).
    1. We must be sure we do not become so busy that we forget to seek the most needful thing—the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33, AMP).
      1. To aim for the kingdom first is to make His way of doing and being right a priority in our lives.
      2. It is imperative that we know what God want us to do so that we do not get caught up in doing unfruitful things.
      3. God speaks through His Word; therefore we must know His Word in order to do things His way.
      4. One law of the kingdom is the law of love; another is the law of faith.
      5. Every day we must be sure we are walking in love and living by faith.

  1. Jesus’ earthly ministry was based on revealing the kingdom of God. He even preached the kingdom of God after His death and resurrection (Acts 1:3).
    1. It is vital that we change our thinking to line up with the Word of God concerning His kingdom (Matthew 3:1-2, AMP, Matthew 4:17, AMP).
      1. God’s Word changes our thinking for the better.
      2. A rich young ruler came to Jesus and asked, “What excellent, and perfectly and essentially good deed must I do to possess eternal life?” (Matthew 19:16-25, AMP).
      3. Jesus told the young man to sell what he had (and give to the poor) and to follow Him as one of His disciples.
      4. However, the young man went away sorrowful because he viewed selling his possessions as a loss. He trusted his riches more than God (Matthew 19:22, AMP).
      5. Jesus said that it is hard for those who trust in their riches to enter into the kingdom of God (Matthew 19:23, AMP).
      6. In other words, for those who trust their riches, it is hard for them to enter into God’s way of doing and being right.
  1. The kingdom of God is a spiritual, unseen reality. It is supernatural, but it is as real as the things we can see (Luke 17:20-21, AMP ).
    1. As Believers we each have the kingdom of God within us; it is in our hearts.
    2. Therefore, we take the kingdom everywhere we go.
