There Is No “Weaker Sex”

God’s plan is for each of us to reach our full potential as equals. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creature, “the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, AMPC). Old attitudes derived from sources other than Christ caused us to devalue one another, disqualify ourselves, and think below our potential; but a new way of thinking is now available for us. God wants women and men to understand that we were all made in his image.

Some of you may be thinking, “How does that work? How are we made in his image?” We are transformed into his image when we begin to fully embrace who we are according to his word. Romans 12:1, 2 tells us that we are transformed when we get our identity from God, and we do this by changing our thinking to line up with his. That’s called renewing your mind. “Transformation” comes from a Greek word that means a change of form or condition, or an alteration of one thing to another. It’s the same Greek word from which we get “metamorphosis.” This is the type of transformation God wants us to see in our lives. The Word of God is our spiritual mirror, and when we look into it, we see the perfect image of ourselves, who we are at the core. Remember, we are spirit beings. We are all patterned after him. Therefore, there is no weaker sex as it concerns our identity and who we are in him.

The phrase “weaker sex” has been taken out of context and used as a weapon against women, but, no more! Truly understanding the word of God on this subject is the key to operating in this equality that is God’s best for us. Has God revealed anything to you about this subject of equality between the genders? Let me know. I’d love to hear from you!
