No more limits

Most of us believe – in our heads at least – that God has great plans and purposes for our lives. Most of us believe that He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us and to give us hope and a future, and yet many, many believers are not living a life of abundance. So where is the disconnect?

When the Israelites were camped on the banks of the River Jordan, the only thing that prevented them from reaching their Promised Land was themselves. Instead of focusing on the largeness of their God, they focused on the insufficiency of themselves.

Caleb was different. He wasn’t moved or dismayed by the obstacles that lay ahead. He simply saw them as an opportunity for God to show Himself. In Numbers 14:24 Caleb is described as a man who followed God fully and with his whole heart and therefore God determined to bring Him into the Promised Land.

There is always going to be some obstacle or opposition to what God has said. Our challenge is to focus on God and His ability, rather than on ourselves and our human inability.

Ephesians 3:20 talks about God being able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. In other words, in our own power we are weak, but by the power of the Holy Spirit which is within us, we are mightily able to overcome.

Renewing our minds enables us to be able to focus on and experience the magnificence and preeminence of God, rather than our human limitations. When we begin to live in this, we expand our capacity to receive from our God and to live in all that He has planned for us; a God-glorifying life without limits.
